CLI is committed to helping clergy throughout their ministries. One of the newer ways we are moving in this direction is through offering Spiritual Direction. On all of our experiential trips, we offer a time of Spiritual Direction, but we realize this need goes beyond a one-time experience.
We all need to process the deep things in our lives with someone who:
- has spiritual authority
- is outside of the system in which you work
- is trained to listen, advise, and care for the soul.
We advise all our clergy to seek out this needed and life-giving resource.
Our platform: A safe environment where you can explore, confess, and heal. A relationship that is bathed in prayer for your personal development. Clergy need a place outside of their congregation, their diocese, and their families where they can be fully vulnerable and be guided by mature Christians who understand their unique challenges.
How to access: Please get in touch with Nan Nietert (nan@theamia.org) to set up a free introduction appointment. In this initial appointment, you will discuss your desires and goals with Peter who will help you understand the process and manage expectations.
Spiritual Advisor: The Rev. Peter A. Mitchell. Peter has served in ordained Christian ministry for 30 years in South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC. In small and large congregations, church plants, and ministries of healing and spiritual direction, Peter’s pastoral gifts have built up the Body of Christ. He makes a home with his wife of 36 years, Amy Butler, and their children in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. To request information about receiving spiritual direction from Peter, contact Nan Nietert at nan@theamia.org.
Cost: After the first appointment, you can sign up for a 6-session agreement for $450. Generally meeting once every two weeks. After the initial 6 weeks, you and Peter will discuss moving to a once-a-month-long-term relationship.
